Little Cat Feet

Scout Got Out!

Scout snuck out around the cable guys legs as he was going in & out, in & out of our house last night!
Mom was lying down 'cause she's weak from being sick.
About 1/2 hour after he left a neighbor kid from 2 doors down rang the bell to ask if we were missing a cat. Mom said she didn't think so but went to look anyway, and sure enough it was Scout! He was frolicking under some pine trees.
She forgot to shut us in another room while Dad was dealing with the repairman.
He got tons of smooches and mom says she doesn't know how she could go on if she didn't have her Scoutie.

Mom's Sick (Again)

Yeah, she's sick again! This has been a rotten winter for her. Who says adults catch their colds from preschoolers? 19 year old boy brought this one home and did a good job of sharing.
Her head is so stuffy she says it's gonna 'splode. We hope not, that would make for a vile, disgusting mess. Her chest is sore too.
So, we are on duty again to nap by her and make sure she gets rest, water & Sudafed.
Mom, we promise not to play Thundering Herd of Elephants on the bed like we did yesterday.

6 Word Memoirs

Our good friend from Texas, Dorf, at 40 Paws, tagged us to do the 6 word memoir meme.
We had to think a little bit about this one, so here is our answers.

Scout: Playful, inquisitive, friendly, stealthy, little buddy.

Shaggy: Floofy, full-figured, soft, outdoor loving, gentle giant.

Scooby: Shy, sleek, nap loving, somewhat nervous, house patroller.

If they want to play, we'd like to tag our friends in the McKittenCat household: Jasper, Josie, Huggy Bear & dear little Maggie.

Treat Time

Mom woke up and found this chewed up treat pouch in the kitty bed.
She seems to think I did it!!
Just because Shaggy is so fat he can't jump on the counter, and Scooby isn't aggressive enough, the blame goes to me!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I spent the last day trying to knock it off the counter, but if Mom isn't going to take the initiative and put the treats in the cupboard, I'm gonna keep trying to get them.
All I wanted was a midnight snack!
Sheesh!

Rosie

Some of you might remember last week we blogged about mom & dads friend Bob dying of cancer.
The funeral was today and mom said Bob & his wife Donna picked out some lovely readings and music to send him on his way.
Bob's wonderful big red dog, Rosie, age 13, stayed with him & the family for 3 days while Bob was at Hospice House. The people there understand that pets are as much a part of the family as children.
Well, when mom walked into the church for the visitation before the service, there was his beloved Rosie, lying by the casket.
Mom just about lost it right there, but Rosie gave her hand a lick and a mournful look with her big brown eyes as if to say, "it's ok now."
Rosie joined everyone afterwards for the funeral lunch, also. She was a quiet and dignified presence and it warmed everyones hearts to see her being made a part of things, like every member of the family should be.

99

Our Great Grammie turnes 99 years old today!
Even though I can't count that high I know it's a lot, especially in cat years.
Mom, Dad, dad's brother & aunt Nancy are going to go to her place to celebrate with some cake & ice cream. She still has her own apartment in an assisted living building. She's a strong lady, but she doesn't hear very well.
Shaggy says next year is a milestone birthday and she will turn a squillion years old!!

Thanks Everyone

Our friend Bob hung in there one more day, finally passing away last night at 11:30 pm.
What a wonderful outpouring from our beloved Cat Blogosphere, for a man you did not know.
We are very touched.
Bob was at a beautiful hospice house situated beside a lake with flowers and birds and nature all around him. That is significant because he had his own landscaping business. His wife Donna said a couple of deer came to graze at the lake in the moonlight outside their window last night. She said the stars were exceptionally bright like porch lights welcoming him home.
One thing we want to tell you is that his big red dog Rosie, a Golden Lab, was there much of the time and was given the run of the whole house & grounds: Bob's private room, several large sunrooms & lounges , office, kitchen. The nurses even gave her dog biscuits! She became not just a therapy dog for the family, but for others that were there too.
Never underestimate the power of animals!!

Yup. We Fit.

Some heavy duty relaxing going on in the new cat bed.

Momma has an older friend and neighbor named Bob (62) who is dying today. He had brain cancer diagnosed 10 months ago. It has spread in the last couple months to his other organs and and this last week he has been slowly reaching toward his heavenly home. His wife of 41 years, Donna, a former nurse, says on CaringBridge, today is most likely the day his spirit will fly free.
Could you all take just a spare moment today to say a quick prayer for him as he leaves his earthly home and enters his heavenly forever home?

Scooby

Here I am in one of my favorite places.
By the back door, stretched out so everyone
going in or out has to step over me.
It's not too often I expose so much of my belly, but mom caught me in an especially relaxed moment.

Shaggy

I wonder if Scooby will mind if I just snuggle down into his kitty bed and nap for awhile.......

Fantasy Island

The snow from the storm is melting, but it's
still not real warm outside.
So here I am on my snuggle.
I'm making believe that I am on a desert island,
laying on the beach with some cool tuna juice in a dish at my side.
Exotic birds flutter overhead, and all my cat friends are invited to come join me.
