Scout Is 6 Months Old Today
Today is Scout's 6 month birthday. We love him but...............
Inquiring minds want to know what has Scout been up to lately.
Well, he wakes mom up every morning around 5:30 by jumping up on the bed by her head and proceeding to jump from shelf to shelf on the headboard, then to the nightstand & back to the headboard where he tries to paw out the kleenix from the box and tip over her water bottle. She can't keep it in a glass anymore. When he gets bored of that, he jumps onto the kitty table under the window and meows at the outside then jumps to the dresser then into the bathroom to meow at the sink for a drink. He will go to the bed again and practice his pouncing skills on anything that moves under the covers. If anyone happens to be in the bathroom, he will scratch at the carpet under the door till someone opens it. He's very demanding.
He tries to dig to China in his litter box, throwing the litter everywhere. He's figuring out the scratching post instead of the furniture, however.
He got into the guinea pigs pine shavings bag the other day, and played in the shavings and got them all over the floor. Big Mess! The when mom cleans out the piggies cages he jumps into them and twapps the pigs upside their heads.
He spills the water bowl all the time and the Boy & the Dad have both caught him drinking out of the toilet. And he tipped a water glass over one of mom's prayer books, but it was her fault she left it there, so she didn't blame him too much on that.
Scooby does not like Scout one bit and hisses & growls at him all the time. So Scout is up to the challenge...he chases him mercilessly, biting his tail & jumping on him. He won't let us eat in peace either. He gobbles down his Stinky Goodness, then sticks his head into our bowls thinking he's entitled to our portion too.
The biggest naughty thing he did was a couple days ago. Mom & Dad's 25th anniversary picture frame was on the counter waiting to be hung up, and he jumped up there & batted it off onto the floor. Glass shattered everywhere. Boy did he run!
Everyone loves the little dude though. They know (or hope, anyway) that he will soon outgrow the rambunctous kitten stage, and be a sedate, polite cat like Scooby & I are. Mom says she will miss the kitten stage because they grow so fast, but life will sure be calmer & more predictible then.

Good luck Mom!
my Mom keeps mentioning things about gettin' a kitten - i sure hope that passes, it sounds like a nightmare - way too busy for me!
Good job Scout!! I turned 5 months old last week, and I've been jumping all over things in celebration! If you feel up to it, you should try biting a lot of things, too. Biting's the best!!
Don't forget about how you like to wake up our mom by lying on her face in the morning and getting fur in her nose! I have to go hide under the table to get away from Jojo every day because she bounces over me like she was a pogo stick and then tackles me and tries to give me a death bite on my neck!
happy birthday, scout! sorry it's a day late though.
Happy late Purrthday Scout!! Sounds like you're tearing stuff up over there...way to go!! :)
Wow this sounds like my house!?!
I'm still waiting for Jinky to grow up!!
Happy Purrthday, Scout! (sorry we're a little late). Sounds like you know how to have FUN!!
Buzzerbee & meep
Mom and Dad had a cat before us and they also had a headboard with a bookshelf and he would wake them in the morning by clearing everything off the bookshelf onto their heads -- TV Guide, remote -- ouch, ouch.
Sometimes it can be trying training the younger generation. I went through the same things with Tipper & Max. It's just exhausting isn't it?

Happy Purrthday Scout! Sounds like you have the house under (your) control, especially the early morning wakeups. You start even earlier than me. I start on the dot at 6 AM. Too bad about the water bottle, mom has a plastic cup with water by her bed that I help myself to every morning. It's yummy.
It sounds like Scout is a ton of fun! We used to like to do fun things like that, but now that we are older we prefer to sleep. Although Opus will out grow his taste for fresh cut flowers!
Love,
Roscoe (and Opus)
Happy Purrthday!
Scout is a scoundrel...nice work on waking up the humans! If you need other ideas, my mom complained on her blog about my early morning antics.
I think of it more as art...and it only gets better with age. Keep it up!
Geeze...sounds like one of my kittens. If we're not up by 7:30am he makes sure he wakes us up to give him his numnums. Toes are prime targets for his techniques for his little teeth.
Happy Birthday! Hope it was a good one! Many more!
Shaggy, you are so nice to write about Mister Scout, he sounds like a busy kitty!
Happy B day to him.
