Scary Day
Mom & us had a scary thing happen today.
Our boy, 19, had a bad, bad diabetic reaction this morning.
Mom went to wake him up for college and he was rolling around, glassy eyed and not responding to her.
She called 911 for paramedics and they got here fast.
We had to be shut in the other room so we wouldn't get stepped on or escape. We were real upset, especially Scout, who was running all around with his tail pouffed out.
They checked his blood sugar and it was 24, which is extremely low for those of you not familiar with it. Then they hooked up an IV into his vein and pumped glucose directly into
his bloodstream.
He started to respond in about 5 minutes and was back up to where he should be in about 15 minutes. He had no idea what was happening and who these people were. He said "Hey, what's going on?" He felt ok and the paramedics didn't have to take him to the hospital. They were in touch with the emergency room doc and he advised it would be ok to recuperate at home.
Please keep him in your prayers today, he is eating again but his blood sugar keeps dropping down making him shaky.
Mom's adrenaline is still going and she's kind of jittery feeling too.

Oh gosh, that is furry scary! Mommy's sugars drop down to 40 or 50 sumtimes which is bad enuff, but 24!!! Eeeek!!! We will purr hard for him to feel all better quik and to find out why this is happenin to him this way. And we'll purr hard for yall too cuz yall's concerned and adrenalin-ated.

That is furry scary. We are glad it turned out all right. As you know I (Eric) am diabetic too and so is my dad. So we have to watch our blood sugar!

Lots of purrs to your bean brother. That is furry scary and I would be worried too. Glad that the paramedics were fast and good to get him back to normal. Tell your mum to take a deep breath and try to relax a little. Glad no one escaped or got their tail stepped on.

Wow! That was very scary! Thank goodness he was at home and your Mom went to wake him up. We're glad he didn't have to go to the hospital. We're keeping you guys in our thoughts and purrayers.

Stoopid diabetis, dad had dat happen last week and mom hadda pour some apple juice in him. Better find out what made it drop like dat, our daddy hadded a sinus infection and dat's what made his go kaflooy. We'll say purrayers dat it was just a boo boo and he forgoted to eat or something.

Oh dear heavens such a very frightful event! We love our children so much! I hope this never happens again but am glad the help called came so very quick! It is good not to have to make that trip to the hospital and be able to regain oneself at home. Have your boy keep some apple juice by his bedside at night! Much love and know how concerned I am about you all!

It must be scary indeed to wake up surrounded by EMT's and the entire family, and have no idea what is going on.

Holy carp, that was LOW. I'm glad your Mom went in to wake him up. When the Younger Human doesn't get up, the Woman blows it off and says he's a big boy and if he misses class it's his own fault...but he's not a diabetic. Just hungover sometimes.
We are all purring real hard for Your Boy! We are purring for your Momma too, so her nerves get settled. We hope this nefurr happens again.
