Shaggy and his littermate brother Scooby came to live with us in October 2005, when they were 5 years old. Scout arrived in 2006 at the age of 6 weeks. Scooby passed over very suddenly to the Rainbow Bridge on April 1, 2012 and is remembered fondly and missed deeply.

Scooby Has Gone To The Rainbow Bridge

Dear sweet Scooby died in my arms this afternoon.
I was walking down the hall and he suddenly bolted out of nowhere in front of me, crashed into the wall. He lay on his back trying to turn himself over but couldn't. As I bent over to hold him, he tried to lift his head to breathe, then a full body spasm shook him and he was gone.
Just like that.
So quickly.
His brother Shaggy was at his side right away and together we stayed with his body. They were littermates and I know Shaggy was upset and confused by this too.
I cried into Scoobys soft black fur and stroked his white tuxedo belly for a long long time. I couldn't believe what I just witnessed and that in the blink of an eye he was gone from us.
I kept thinking, come on Scooby, wake up and move. Lets get more brushies in the bathroom. I'll turn the faucet on for you and you can have a nice long drink. But his little white feet got cold and I knew he had left me.
I still can't believe it. Shaggy is at my side as I write this.
There was absolutely nothing different for him this day than any other day of his life.
He was due to visit the vet tomorrow for his yearly exam. There was nothing the vet was watching with his health, and there was nothing I needed to discuss with him.

He's gone. Scooby is gone.
I was on our deck reading just an hour earlier and he was enjoying the smells of spring through the screen door. He wanted out but I said no. How I wish I had let him out. I didn't know that this would be his last few hours with me or I would have sat in the grass with him and brushed him.
He was the most gentle kitty soul you could imagine.

Such sudden, sad news this morning about your Sweetheart, Scooby.

It's a Human Thing to keep asking "Why" and lamenting "If I'd known..."

The Beauty in all this is, Scooby is now playing with his Angels at the Bridge, in the Light of He who called him there.

We had a kitty pass quickly, from a seizure, the Vet surmised. Know that in your arms, with his littermate close by, within sniffing distance, he knew it was safe leaving you here as he went about his new adventure at The Bridge.
Thank you for allowing us to know Scooby. Each day, each friend is so very precious.

God Bless You.

We did not know Scooby before today and we are sad to know he is gone now. Your tender words and the lovely photos of him speak volumes of how much he was loved and how much love he gave back to you...

Teri lost her most special boycat suddenly to a heart problem, that even though she knew he had and he had lived many good years with it, in the middle of the night, our Cat Daddy woke her up and said Bo is having trouble breathing...

Teri was able to kiss him and hold him and then he was gone...she treasures that she was able to be there to comfort him over the bridge.

That is a sad memory but a comfort now when she knows how much they loved each other...

Fly free, Scooby, and may your Cat Mom be surrounded by those who love and care...like us...

This is shocking and horrible news. I am just glad that you were right there to hold him at the end and that Shaggy was nearby, so Scooby knew he was surrounded with love.

We are so sorry to hear about your baby Scooby. Remember he is enjoying the scents of Spring with you...and those nights, when all should be quiet--you'll hear Scooby pitter patter around the house and hear his purr. Scooby knows he was/is loved. Psalms 50:15.

The heartbreak you must be feeling is moving my mom person to tears. I guess it's easy to say that at least he didn't suffer, but I know that those trite words don't heal your broken heart.

We will pray that peace replaces the pain that you are surely feeling.

Nubbin wiggles & hugs,
Oskar & Pam
