Baby Tuxie
Since I am the Tuxie of the family I will tell you about the Incident of the Tiny Tuxie that happened when mom & dad were in Grand Forks, ND for their HS reunion.They had just finished shopping at the Ralph Engelstad Arena Home of the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux Hockey for some awesome new sioux-venirs. They are alumni there too. As they were crossing the big grassy area in front of the building mom caught sight of a little black thing running from one evergreen to another. At the same moment a group of passing 10 year olds there for hockey camp saw the kitten and started chasing it. They were a lot closer than mom was and she could hear them yelling things like "What is it? Catch it! Step on it." Then when they got him trapped by the wall of the bookstore they were saying stuff like "Throw it. Suffocate it. Kick it." There were about 15 of the little bastards.
Well, mom marched right over there and into the midst of that group. One kid was holding the baby and she took it out of his arms and "I'll take that kitty now." Just then their counselor showed up and they started to behave and he led them off.
One little boy held back and asked to pet the kitten and wanted to make sure mom would find a home for him. Mom assured him she would. One nice kid.
Mom said Dad was not happy. He said "Now you have him, what are you going to do with him. You shouldn't have picked him up. We already have 3 we can't have another."
Mom told him to chill and go look up the address for the Grand Forks Humane Society. So they took the kitty there and mom was getting more & more attached to that kitten every second. He clung to her and buried his head under her chin, and secretly she was hoping that the place would be closed for the day. But it was open and a woofie was going home with a new family and another tuxie kittie was going home with a mom & her daughter.
Dad filled out the proper forms and the lady said they have plenty of space and he should be adopted fairly quickly.
Mom choked up when she had to hand over the little guy, but he is safe now. And has food, a good place to sleep. It was to be nearly 100 degrees for the week and she doubts he would have made it on his own with out water.
We are proud of our mom and her love for all creatures and we are more glad of the fact that she didn't bring home another cat!

a big YEA to your Mom! what was your Dad thinkin? of course she had to pick him up and save him!!! he probly has a forever home by now!
Yay to your mum for resquen that little guy. I am sure the hockey kids would have done him in (cruel kids). Although I doubt your mum could have caught him on her own, so in a way they helped.

What a cute little tuxie. Your mom is a wonderful person for rescuing him. I can't believe those little brats. :( Someone needs to teach them respect for all living creatures.
That little tuxie is very lucky your mom rescued him and took him to the Humane Society. I hope he finds a wonderful Forever Home. Your mom is a kind, caring person. :)
Yay fur yoor mom! and good on da kid dat stayed and asked about da kittie, his team mates were a bunch of mean boys. Mom looked at da piksher biggified and wondered if his rite eye was injured, ders no eyebrow whiskers dat she cood see...well, he's safe now thanks to yoor wunnerful mom.
Oh what a hard thing for your mom! She is obviously a wonderful lady and I can't imagine how hard it was to give the little kitten up. She did save his life and that is so great. I don't understand mean beans. Why do they want to destroy???

Oh he is such a kyooooot poodin!!! The Grand Forks Shelter said they had LOTS of room? How can that be? Don't they have kitten season in ND? Wowee!
Anyway, we're very proud of your mom for rescuing that kitten. Rotten little bastards. Kids can be so F*&#ing mean!!! Arggghhh.
Your comment on Dorf's post op brought tears to Maw's eyes. She is grateful that you guys care so much for Dorfie. He is a great cat. He has put up with SO much over the last year. The vets and their techs are so amazed at how calm he is and how he lets them do anything. That's the way Bow became after so many trips to the vet with his IBS problems and also his butt bites from the one who came before.

Your mom is very brave to step in and rescue the little kitten. I am so proud of her! Because it sounds like nothing good was going to happen if she didn't rescue him. I am very mad at those bad kids for treating the kitten poorly.
My goodness, that little guy looks just like me! What awful children...good thing your Mom came along when she did. Hopefully that little guy will find a forever home quickly.

Thumbs up (if I had 'em) to your Mom. It's probably a good thing she didn't bring him home, though, 'cause he looks like he might be a little sick. Maybe the Humane people can get him medicine and help him get better or find a forever home with people who know a good stabby guy.

Thank goodness for your mom! My mom's eyes got a little leaky when she was reading that story. She hates it when she thinks a kitten or animal is going to be hurt.

Mom says thumbs up for your Mom saving the kitten. She can remember years ago when she was visiting her aunt and there were two boys trying to tie a cat to a tree by it's tail. She went over right away and got the cat from them. Can't understand why some humans can be so cruel. It's not just kids that do it either. I sure don't blame you for being so proud of you Mom. Tell your Mom not to be so sad cause with a cute face like that he will be adopted. Probably is already. God Bless your Mom.

Paws up for your MOmma! What a darling little tuxie. Momma calls people who drop off kitties and people who are mean, WORMS or SLUGS. Momma understands how your Momma felt sadded. Little Hanna really cried when Diane came, but Momma splained to her Diane had lost her boy Chester a month ago and was so lonesome, she needed a little Huntergirlcat. Momma says all's well that ends well. A good proverb.

Thanks for your continued kind words for our Dorfie. He isn't moving much with all those confining contraptions on him, but at least he is eating on his own (well, spoon fed).
